This document provides guidance for configuring the AudioCodes Mediant 1000 Multi Services
Business Gateway (MSBG) to properly interface to and interoperate with the Integra Telecom
SIP Solutions trunks. The MSBG serves to ‘front end’ a Microsoft Lync 2010 (Lync) server
deployment with Enterprise Voice enabled.
It is important to note that the MSBG is a very versatile device and may be configured in a
number of different operational modes. During the evaluation process and subsequent
documentation process, the operational mode used was as an enterprise-level Session Border
Controller or e-SBC. In the event that other MSBG operational modes are desired, configuration
advice is not provided. However, generally the same settings and parameters are used in the
MSBG; just in other configuration locations. Translations to the various operational mode
parameter settings are beyond the scope of this document.
In addition, configuration of the MSBG ‘side’ (LAN) facing the Lync deployment and
configuration of the Lync itself in not included in this document. There are numerous possible
configurations for connection in interoperation between the MSBG and Lync. This document
picks up the configuration from the MSBG ‘side’ (WAN) facing Integra Telecom. That said, some
e-SBC header manipulation rules (HMRs) may not be required or additional HMRs may be
required depending on the Lync deployment model selected by the customer.
The goal is to ensure that—when properly configured—the subject customer supplied
equipment will interface to and operate with the Integra Telecom equipment and network.
In order to establish a configuration and compatibility baseline, Table 1 below shows the
software versions used for testing and evaluation in the Integra Telecom Lab. Software versions
below (earlier than) the tested version are regression tested by the applicable vendor and
generally considered to be acceptable as well.
